My Ph.D research focuses on restoring the ability to perform daily activities to people with spinal cord injuries who have lost voluntary control over their arms, using Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES) as our approach. We focus on FES as it allows greater independance for the patients than other candidate approaches such as nursing assistants or helper robots. In particular I am currently quantifying the stability associated with feedforward FES control. I also expect to use the developed technique to assist recreating various forms of interactions with the environment, which plays a critical role in normal daily activities.
Recently I participated in the "Ready-Set-Go" program at Northwestern University, during which I directed, edited, and starred in a short video clip introducing about my research. Check it out!
