The eight week long course is offered through coursera.org and is completely free of charge.  The short course description is as follows:

Learn modeling and analysis techniques for electrical, mechanical, and chemical systems and discover how engineered systems that seem very different are actually very similar.

Current PhD students Lauren Miller, Alex Ansari, and Jarvis Schultz as well as former Master's student Yoke Peng Leong all had papers accepted to the 2013 American Control Conference taking place in Washington, DC June 17-19.

Graduate students Steven Manuel and David Meyer as well as postdoc Michael Wiertlewski were each accepted to present a paper at the IEEE World Haptics Conference 2013 in Daejeong, Korea April 14-17, 2013.

Izaak presented at the 2013 Annual Meeting of the Society for Integrative and Comparative Biology in San Francisco on Saturday January 5th 2013. His presentation was titled "Knifefish surge like eels while heaving like trout." The abstract can be seen below.

We had a big turnout, too much food, and lots of great beer at the annual NxR holiday party and gift exchange.  Stars of the evening included Zombie Dust, Delirium Tremens, a robot spaceman, and a signed photograph of Northwestern star student-athlete and former lab member Patrick Ward.  A great way to celebrate a great year!

Along with the dedication of the new Willens Wing, the Laboratory for Intelligent Mechanical Systems (LIMS) has joined with the Hartmann SeNSE Lab and the MacIver Lab to form the Northwestern Neuroscience and Robotics Lab (NxR).  The evolution reflects the new levels of collaboration facilitated by the new laboratory space which now houses all of the affiliated faculty and their students in a common space.
